Weed Control

Kakariki Projects will help identify and target noxious weeds on your property and develop a plan to control them.

We aim to provide the landowner with the best option for the site, to minimize costs and environmental impacts.

We use a range of weed control methods and generally complete weed control for 2 years after planting.

Scrub cutting

  • Scrub cutting is completed in areas that are overgrown and unplantable. This is completed to create a suitable planting area and give the plants the best chance of surviving.

Cut & paste

  • The cut & paste method is used when poising larger individual weeds.

Spraying

  • Spraying is completed prior to planting and post-planting. Kakariki projects have access to a portable sprayer and knapsacks depending on the situation.

Mechanical clearing

  • Mechanical clearing using a machine is completed when the site is large enough to require a machine.
